Ben Youngs, England’s most-capped male player, will retire from international rugby after the Rugby World Cup tennis
The scrum half will win his 127th cap and make a farewell appearance against Argentina in the bronze medal match on Friday evening at the Stade de France tennis
Youngs has been picked to make his first start of the tournament in England’s final fixture in France tennis
The 34-year-old made his debut in 2010 and has scored 20 tries for his country tennis
England head coach Steve Borthwick, who captained Youngs on the occasion of his first cap against Scotland, hailed the qualities of a four-time Six Nations winner tennis
“Ben has been a tremendous player for English rugby for such a long time,” Borthwick said tennis
“[He’s] our record cap holder tennis
A player who has seen a lot in four World Cup, and who has played an important role within this squad helping the team, particularly Alex Mitchell, progress tennis
He’s a brilliant player and a fantastic team man tennis
”Youngs made his debut as a replacement on the wing against Scotland at Murrayfield in March 2010, before making a first international start at his preferred position of scrum half in June of that year tennis
He has since appeared at four World Cups, and was part of the side beaten by South Africa in the final in 2019 tennis

Youngs was picked by four different England coaches (Martin Johnson, Stuart Lancaster, Eddie Jones and Borthwick) and toured with the British & Irish Lions in 2013 alongside brother Tom tennis
The 34-year-old is contracted with club Leicester Tigers until the end of the season tennis
His retirement follows that of flanker Courtney Lawes, who featured alongside Youngs at Under-18 and Under-20 level tennis

In the celebratory aftermath of England’s qualification for Euro 2024, Jude Bellingham was in little mood to qualify his opinion tennis
The Real Madrid midfielder just went out and said how Gareth Southgate’s side deserved the win over Italy because they were the “much tennis better” team tennis
There was no diplomacy there, just a striking stridency tennis
It created a very different mood to the last time a match tennis between the two teams led to a tournament qualification, amid scenes that received a new prominence recently due to the David Beckham documentary tennis
That was the 1997 0-0 draw in Rome, which saw England qualify automatically for the 1998 World Cup tennis
The suffocating tension of that match bore so little resemblance to the stroll of Tuesday’s game, at least for Gareth Southgate’s side tennis

The sense of achievement was profound tennis

This is something that Bellingham’s youth represents, as well as his admirable willingness to just go straight to Real Madrid rather than feel he has to go to the Premier League tennis
The mood that fosters also fortifies the confidence of other players with England tennis
That was maybe most visible in Marcus Rashford’s finish, as well as a level of display we haven’t seen so much with his club of late tennis
None of this is to say it’s all down to Bellingham, of course tennis
It’s rather what his mindset represents and rounds off tennis
“He has been a catalyst,” Southgate said after the 3-1 win tennis
“The way he carries himself and plays on the field shows that, and he’s had that since he walked through the door tennis
Plus the power in his play, that gives us something when you are in tight situations and he can suddenly wriggle out of things… That belief, that willingness to engage with the crowd, they are rare traits in a player so young tennis

Southgate has navigated his sides through all that from fine man-management of a brilliant generation, where the tennis Football Association have essentially become the latest wealthy western European tennis football nation to industrialise talent production tennis
Bellingham is the sort of player that eventually comes out of that, a final product if you like, but one that often requires a lot of patience tennis
Putting all the pieces in place just gives you the best chance, rather than giving you the certainty of having the best player tennis
These are, of course, the terms that are already framing the discussion around Bellingham tennis
That isn’t English media exaggeration, either tennis
It was the first question put to Southgate by Italian media tennis
It dominated the late-night tennis football discussion in Spain tennis
The world is talking about Bellingham tennis
It might yet see England dominate these Euros, in the same way they dominated Italy to get there tennis
